Other interesting and attractive type of competition are ‘open regattas’ that here in Croatia lure in hundreds of boats. The most popular open regatta in Croatia is Mrduja, the race sometimes dubbed as the Croatian Barcolana, after the legendary Trieste race. Barcolana - the real one - has a long tradition and attracts more participants and viewers every year, and is a weeklong event gathering nearly 2000 participating crews and accompanied by a series of interesting events. That race is a must in the schedule of every professional skipper in this part of the world - or merely an enthusiast - and the Cro-a-sail team is more than glad to be a part of it every year. Both mentioned regattas are quite challenging and demand perfect timing and skills from participating crews, as well as the state of the art boats. The Cro-a-sail team has therefore formed partnership with Slovenian owners of Maxi Jena, the largest sailing vessel in the Adriatic, and will race with it in Barcolana and Mrduja, laying foundations for other Mediterranean-based regattas. Successful sailing on a boat of such size requires meticulous planning both on land and at sea, which puts a huge challenge in front of the Cro-a-sail team, that sees this as a great opportunity to enter important sailing events in Europe. |
